Probate Trusts and Administration

The area of our practice which is sometimes shorthanded as "probate" is in fact much wider than that - and hence the title of this page.
Within this area we are able to deal with the following:
  • The making of Wills, amendments and codicils to them

  • Probate and the administration of estates - this covers cases where a deceased person left a will, and where the person did not, and therefore died "intestate". In both cases the estate will need to be administered, either a grant of probate or letters of administration obtained, assets dealt with and the estate distributed in accordance with a will or with the law governing intestate estates

  • The making of Powers of Attorney, and in this context particularly Lasting Powers of Attorney.  These are a very useful tool to enable others to deal with your finances if you later become incapable. We find that many of our elderly clients and their families find these documents to be particularly helpful and comforting

  • The administration of trusts, whether set up during one's lifetime or by a will; and in these cases, as with wills and probate, whether we are appointed to assist as trustees or executors, or are appointed by the trustees or executors themselves.
We can give sound and professional advice in all these matters.
John Barrett is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Julie Jewers and Gillian Minford are both student members of STEP and currently studying to become full members.

We recognise that the issues involved may be especially sensitive and require a careful and gradual approach; this we are happy to give, together with home or care home visits where that may be the most appropriate course.
