Administration of estate following death

Following death an individual’s estate must be administered to ensure it passes to the persons entitled under the Will or, in the absence of any Will, under the Intestacy Laws. It is also necessary to ensure that all liabilities of the deceased are discharged (providing that there are sufficient assets in the estate) and that the deceased’s tax affairs including payment of any inheritance tax due are finalised.

The administration of an estate is often complex, time consuming and a source of worry for those involved.

Berwins Private Client Unit prides itself on its experience, expertise and efficiency to ensure that estates are dealt with in the most effective manner with proactive advice being
given throughout.

Our Guide to executors provides general  information about administering estates.

If you instruct Berwins to administer an estate we will provide you with a clear costs estimate as soon as possible. Depending on the value and complexity of the estate we can offer fixed fee services. We are also conscious that some practical tasks are best performed by relatives or friends so that costs can be minimised and these will be explained to you at an early stage.
