Licensing
The Licensing Act 2003 has completely changed how the law approaches licensing
matters. Any premises selling alcohol or carrying on any regulated entertainment
must be licensed. Responsibility for this is no longer dealt with by the courts
but by the local authority.
The premises themselves must have a Premises Licence and the person responsible
for the licensed activity must hold a Personal Licence. In addition each premises
must have Designated Premises Supervisor who must hold a Personal Licence. Often
the holder of all these licences/positions may not be the same person which can
make them purchase of say a public house hotel or restaurant quite complicated.
We can guide you through the process and ensure that all the relevant permissions
are obtained. We can complete the application forms for you and inform you of
the Licensing Authorities’ requirements. If need be we can represent you at hearings
before Licensing Committees.
We regularly deal with:-
- Applications for new premises licenses
- Applications for new personal licenses
- Applications for transfers
- Applications for changes of designated premises supervisor
- Temporary Event Notices
- Interim Authorities
