Berwins' client's ascent for charity

Berwins' client Aidan Bruce is celebrating playing part in raising nearly  £50,000 in a sponsored ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The climb took 7 days to complete, covered a total distance of 80 kilometres, rising from about 1,000 ft up to 19,000ft (5486 metres). There were 15 in the group, all raising funds for the charity Daisy Chain, a local charity set up to help autistic children  and their families from anywhere in the UK. http://tinyurl.com/y3kml84

Aidan said, ' Of the 15, 13 made it to the top. To say the climb was tough would be an understatement. I’m glad I prepared with intensive fitness training .

I’d describe the physical and mental demands of the climb as being on the edge of human tolerance, mainly due to the lack of oxygen which tends to do funny things to you – nausea, headaches, fatigue. Some were delirious and had memory lapses.

We were all ably assisted by a team of porters who carried most of the support stuff needed such as tents and food. The final push to the summit started at midnight so we reached the peak 7 hours later just as the sun rose over the crater wall at Stellar point.  The temperature at Uhuru Peak was minus 10 degrees Celsius.'

'As a group, we raised nearly £50,000 for the charity which will go towards the completion of a new building where training and counselling is facilitated as well as a large soft play area.'

Berwins was delighted to support this very worthy cause and our congratulations are extended to Aidan and his fellow climbers on their amazing achievement.
